U.S.A.
2000
My first meeting with the US was actually in Denmark. My relatives in the US has visited us many times and my Dad also always brought cool stuff home with him from his many business trips when I was little. In 2000 my parents decided tu spend 4 weeks travelling the US in the summer. It became a pretty big trip covering both the east coast and the west coast (the family).
The trip stated with 2,5 weeks on the west coast (Californien, Nevada og Arizona). We rented a car and drove around to San Fransisco, L.A., Vegas, Grand Canyon, Death Valley and all the other sights on the way.
The next two weeks we spent on the east coast with the family (Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., New York). We sow Gettysburg, Niagara Falls, New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Amish and Mennonite for the first time.
It was on this trip I decided to become an exchange student, which I did in 2002.
2002/03
I arrived in Pennsylvania late August and just had a few days at the pool with the family before scool started. Starting Governor Mifflin Senior High was quite a culture shock, since they weren't really organized and I didn't really understand the system. I made friends pretty fast, because they thought I was very interesting, being a "foreigner" and all, and they showed me around etc.
The first little trip from PA was to Cape May in New Jersey for christmas. Beautiful beaches and cozy little village. It was with some friends of the family.
For christmas I got more presents than ever, including half a trip to Hawaii.
In februar I went with my host mom to Houston, Texas, where it was in the 70s eccept for the days that we were there! But it was a nice and very needed trip!
I also went on a class trip to Washington DC, where I got to see the White House again, etc. and in April I finaly went to Hawaii with a bunch of other exchange students from EF. It became 10 unforgetable days and I will also never forget who made that trip posible!
In May the family invited me to come with them un their summer trip to Florida. Another wonderful trip where I got to see every corner of the state and had a great time with the family.
When we got back we had finals and then I went on Senior Week. Many High Schools have tradition for graduates to spend a week at the beach, where you party and have fun. We went to Ocean City Maryland. I was actually not supposed to go along, but again the family made it possible for me to be a part of it. A super time with the girls and everybody else.
2004
During my Easter break 2004 I went to the US again. I had only just returned from at rather crazy class trip to Berlin, when I left. I spent the first few days with family and friends in PA and around, and then I went on another wonderful trip with Lisa and Mark. This time they took me through the states
(Maryland, Virginia) until we got to North Carolina, where my really good friend , Liz, was studying in Greensboro. A seriously underestimated state by the way. Just like PA. Here I spent the weekend on Liz's college and as always we weren't bored!
2006
In the fall of 2006 my American pop-pop, Karl, turned 70 and we decided to surprise him. My grandparents had visited the family many times and wanted to do it one last time. My brother also really wanted to come along and the four of us had a great trip. We shopped a lot, when un a few trips to NYC and local sights in PA. I got to see Aileen and Liz and had my first legal visit to an American Bar. As always, a wonderful trip!
